The Open

As the oldest golf championship in the world, The Open, is among the most prestigious golf championships in the world. Founded in 1860, it was originally held annually at Prestwick Golf Club in Scotland. Later the venue rotated between a select group of coastal links golf courses in the United Kingdom.

HUGO BOSS is acting as an official patron partner of the event since 2020 further following its long tradition of golf sponsorships, which started in 1985.

  • Thomas Detry

    Detry has been playing golf since before his fifth birthday. In 2016, he won the Bridgestone Challenge and broke the record for the largest difference to the next-ranked player at 12 shots.

    In 2018 the Belgian professional won the World Cup of Golf representing Belgium with partner Thomas Pieters. At the Celtic Classic and the Hero Open in 2020, Detry twice finished sole runner-up at both tournaments.

  • Matthias Schwab

    The Austrian golfer turned professional in 2017, playing on the European Tour in his rookie year he tied for fourth place in the Hero Indian Open. The rising professional then went on to finish second at the Porsche European Open and as a tied fourth at the Italian Open in the 2019 European Tour.

    Following his consistent performances he qualified for the Men`s individual event at the 2020 Summer Olympics.

HUGO BOSS announced a partnership with the Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant Formula One Team in July 2022. The partnership marks the return of the BOSS brand to Formula One. Additionally, we support Porsche Motorsport, as Global Apparel Partner.

After a successful foray into the world tennis sponsorship with the Davis Cup in the 1980s, BOSS is back on court!

BOSS is committed to going the extra mile, having partnered with inspirational athlete Alica Schmidt.

Cycling

In 2023, the brand announced its sponsorship of the Swiss Tudor Pro Cycling Team; followed by a partnership with the Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe team in 2024. BOSS is also extending its fashion expertise into the world of cycling apparel with a seasonal capsule collection together with ASSOS, starting in 2023 and continuing until today.
